The day finally arrives, the photo below shows the locomotive ready for lifting, with the area around it cleared.

 

The other photo shows it being lifted clear of the frame stands on which it has sat for the last two and a half years.

 

The loco is supported on two large girder sections, one placed at the front and the other towards the rear. Four 25 ton electric jacks ( two on each girder) are then used to lift the locomotive high enough to allow the large driving wheels to be rolled into position.
