Now that the weather has improved our volunteers have set about filling and painting the wheelsets.
The view below shows the driving (middle) wheelset filled ready for rubbing down and painting with primer.
The view above shows one of our team doing some final touching up on the trailing wheelset.
The filling has been done carefully to improve the rough cast surfaces. This will enable the wheels to be cleaned more easily when in service, whilst still retaining the 'cast' character of the design.
