A start has been made on overhauling the mechanical lubricators.

Two have been completely stripped, and the large number of small parts in each cleaned and refurbished. Once the body parts have been finish painted the lubricators can be re-assembled and mounted on the locomotive.

Boscastle has four mechanical lubricators, pictured is the large Wakefield 7z lubricator which feeds oil to axlebox underkeeps (oiltrays), slidebars and axlebox guide liners. The other three lubricators supply a thicker 'cylinder' oil to various parts of the cylinders, with one lubricator for each cylinder.
