The two views show the left hand cylinder lubrication pipework in position. The old pipework has been annealed and re-shaped and a number of new clips made to hold it in position.


The pipes supply oil in two ways; directly to various parts such as cylinder bores and indirectly via atomisers to the piston valves. The atomisers mix the oil with steam and spray it into the valve bores, providing a minimum amount of oil over a maximum area. Atomised oil also helps prevent the build up of carbon around the valve rings.



The view above shows more of the left hand cylinder pipework but also shows the overhauled left hand suspension link in position (see 18th July page for more info.).
