Tender
Work in the back end of last year focused largely on preparing the tender frames for re wheeling and placing the tank on the frames. This involved a lot of time fitting items such as spring brackets and pads, new leading brake hanger brackets, vacuum reservoir tanks with their pipework and cover and preparing the wheelsets and axleboxes.
The frames were re-wheeled, springs fitted and tank lifted into the frames on the 2nd December after a large shunt and much help from the Shed staff at Loughborough.
Since then, we have fitted items such as horn stays and axlebox covers, electrical conduit has been made and trial fitted below the tank, tender window frames have been riveted into position and coal spray pipework has been formed and trial fitted.
Boiler
As a result of the above, there is no stay work to report on the boiler this quarter.
