Tender

Work on the tender continues with the tender sump now permanently fitted, the tank fully bolted to the frames and all pipe clip stud holes drilled, tapped and new studs fitted.

The vacuum reservoir pipework has been modified to suit the new tank and trial fitted with just one new small section left to manufacture.  The water shut off valves are being overhauled, one was particularly badly seized and is having new parts made by our machinist.

As was mentioned in the last report we were on the verge of fitting the brake gear which would have cleared a large number of parts from our packed container and completed the bulk of the work on the tender.

However, as previously reported, on the night of 1st July our container was broken into and many valuable parts accumulated over a long time were stolen.

Not surprisingly, many bronze fittings and much copper pipework were taken, but also many steel parts, such as inside valve gear and tender brake gear, went too.

This is obviously an enormous set back, and we are currently working out how we move forward from this dire situation.
